Urkye order part two: sleeved, stretchy tops!

As I mentioned in my post on Urkye sizing (and I shall reiterate: these tops are size 36oo/ooo, which is what the measurement chart indicated for my size), I ordered two stretchy sleeved tops. Once again, I liked the designs (and the polka dots!), I thought I would wear them a lot, and they looked work appropriate.

However, since Urkye had a fairly limited selection upon opening, I didn't have a lot of choices, and so I got the same top in two colors. Therefore, to some extent, they look very similar-- so the images overlap a bit. They both fit exactly the same in person (excellent consistency between different shirts is always a great feature, though)!

I can finally link to Boosaurus, who has also reviewed the first top, and as you can see, she's got some pictures from me in her blog as well. We have very similar measurements, though different body shapes, so it is very helpful (and I think very interesting just to see!) for comparison purposes.

Here is the Groszki latte (a cool-toned, medium beige color, quite close to a cafe latte, actually; with white polka dots):

These shirts are 92% viscose and 8% elastane, unlike the sleeveless tops which are cotton/ elastane blend. The material is much thinner, and drapes quite well. The length of the shirts is shorter on me than the sleeveless shirts, hitting about an inch past upper hip. The relatively shorter length and the material can allow a bit of sliding upward when I'm active at work, but rarely shows skin, so it doesn't bother me.

Once again, due to the ties (which are wider compared to the spaghetti, and sort of ribbon-like, with angled ends, on these tops), there are several styling option. In this case, I have tied it in the back just to show the option, but I normally prefer to tie it to the front, slightly to one side. (I display that on the black version below).

I like the color, as I think it's a flattering beige, darker than my skin tone (I'm fair-complexioned, so I can look washed out in overly light shades of beige). I think it is a flattering shade for many, but probably not all complexions.

The angled ends on the straps (which are rather difficult to see in the picture, but all click to a larger size), gives it a little bit of an extra splash of style, in my opinion. A small detail that does add something noticeable-- I frequently get compliments on the Urkye pieces I've worn so far.

This is the Groszki mocca (which is black with white polka dots):

This material, I noticed, (and it's probably only noticeable due to the color, since it's not obvious on the beige version of this shirt), attracts a bit of lint in the washer and dryer. I hung these shirts up to dry the last time I washed to see if it helped with the lint on this shirt (and also, because I'm sure it will prolong the life and beauty of these shirts), which did help, but it also made the shoulders look slightly baggier on these tops, since my shoulders aren't as wide as the wire hangers I put them on to dry (I know, wire hangers are bad). I still think hanging to dry is viable for these shirts, but I will try using clips instead of a hanger. Or, I might just wash and dry this shirt with other dark colored shirts.

Earlier (in the Urkye sizing post) I mentioned that, in my opinion, you could order according to your waist measurement, even if your bust measurement is a little bit bigger than the maximum ooo size. I tried to illustrate with my hand that the capacity in these shirts is noticeably larger than my chest, which is right at the measurement listed for 36ooo.
With hand....
Without any extra, just my chest

Once again, these shirts are among the very first items I reach for after washing-- they are flattering, comfortable, and light and cool in the summer. The shorter length means they should be a very attractive prospect for women with a shorter torso (though I do think this is a very flattering length for my fairly average length torso, as well). The material is a little bit more prone to attracting lint compared to the cotton/ elastane fabric (this is only noticeable in the "mocca" colorway, though), but this problem could be easily solved by washing with other dark colored clothes, or by hanging the shirts to dry.

Only one more Urkye post to go, with the kontrast shirt and a surprise bonus item that I purchased from Boosaurus!

  1. Fit is perfect:) And we're happy that you like groszki:)

Regarding washing&drying - I wash my black groszki in special liquid for black clothes and it helps. I dry them as all of my clothes, I fold them in half (where is seam under bust) and hang on ordinary laundry dryer, they don't change shape :)

    1. The hanging tip is really helpful, thanks urkye! In the United States, I believe we use machine dryers primarily, which I think is different from Europe (from what I've heard, anyway). It's convenient to throw my clothing in the dryer, but it definitely prolongs the life of clothing to hang dry, so that's what I'll do-- but I'm going to try hanging the way you suggest next time (and if I remember when I go to the store, I should pick up some dark-clothing detergent anyway, as my "indigo" jeans are really getting very faded)!

  2. You really look amazing in these! We have similar skin color so it's really nice to see this on you. I have to say the black one really impressed me and it goes amazingly well with your jeans. :D

    1. They are both nice, but I actually slightly prefer the black, I think! I don't think I mentioned in the entry, but even the beige does a great job of concealing bra colors, even if they are dark (I'm wearing the Deco in the Ocean color-- a medium to dark blue-- underneath, and it's not at all visible-- a real plus for me since I don't own many beige bras right now).

I'm glad the skin color is close, I thought that might be the case, too, based on your pictures.

    2. That's good to know. I was actually looking at the brown often because I'm scared black will wash me out but I think I like the black one better on you so it's definitely good to know. It reminds me of a starry night. ;)

    3. I try to not buy too many all black shirts for the same reason, June-- but I think the white polka dots really lighten it up and make it more flattering for the fair complexioned! Definitely no regrets for getting it. And yes, it reminds me of a starry night too, in a good way. :D

  3. Yay! :D I just wanted to note that I air-dry my Urkye things, too.. and I was noticing that my bras don't show up under the beige Groszki, either! Very handy!

    1. Yay! I finally got up the dress pictures today, too. ;) I think it speaks to the quality of the fabric that even a light colored shirt doesn't show any colorful bras. Definitely a feature I could get used to!

I am definitely going to air dry these shirts. I like them too much to risk shortening the lifespan!
