Real life interference

I have a lot of plans for posts, but I've managed to lose my camera (most likely permanently-- I lost it while doing some touristy things out of town and no one has turned it in). I also had to go out of town for a week for work, and I'm having some major home repair and family health issues.

I won't be doing clothing reviews for a while, probably, while I look for a new camera (this is my old one, it worked well enough), because I think clothing reviews are a lot more useful with pictures.

I do have some non-clothing posts I've had percolating for a few weeks, look for those soon.

Until then, does anyone have camera recommendations? I get bogged down trying to find the best one for me. I'd love to be more involved with better quality pictures (not just for this blog), but I also don't want a gigantic clunker that I'm not going to want to take along with me. I also don't want to spend too much (ideally under $200), as I've got some big expenses (like a wedding) coming up. I generally prefer Canon (slight preference for Canon-- my last two cameras were Canons and they aged well and survived dropping) or Nikon.

  1. A professional portrait and wedding photographer who lectured at the pop-up Adobe classes last year in San Francisco said she travels everywhere with her Canon S95, which she LOVES. Also, fabulouslybroke.com's founder loves that camera and took it with her when she traveled around Europe for two months with just a crossbody purse and a laptop bag. The reviews on Amazon, when I checked last year, were numerous and overall very positive. If a photographer friend hadn't loaned me his old point-and-shoot (not the Canon S95, unfortunately), I might have bought one. If I weren't looking at having to replace my four-year-old phone soon AND my seven-year-old Palm imminently, I might still buy the Canon S95.

    1. Wow, fantastic response! After spending two weeks trying to locate my camera, I gave up and posted this. A week ago I was grabbing a jacket to wear in case I got chilly, and I found my camera in the pocket of the jacket! So, I'm back full circle, to not needing a camera right now. That said, a very solid suggestion and I might pick it up soon anyway, just to have a better camera. :D Thank you so much!
